This is a weekly post about the applications we use ourselves or the ones we tried out
I’ll start this review with a little story. I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro. Which is a good size but for me isn’t big enough to do video editing, movie watching. So a few years ago I bought a 27 inch monitor. Since I bought it, the monitor has been sitting on a few books to make higher. A cinematography guide, a Guinness World Records book and 2 books about sharks. They have served me well. But when I was planning on upgrading my desk, I started looking for a monitor stand. There are a lot of cool stands, but I didn’t see any I really liked. About a month later when the iMac Pro shipped, I finally found one. The Twelve South, HighRise Pro for iMac and Displays.
“We’re going to double down on secrecy on products. But in other things Apple will be the most transparent company. Supplier responsibility, environmental issues … In this area I want people to copy us.” – Cook
We all know the tension before the start of a new Apple event. All sorts of questions go through our heads. Prior to the event, you have a series of leaks (which won’t be posted here, “no spoilers” policy) and wishes.
“What products would we like to see in the future from Apple?”, is the question we will answer today.
Everyone who loves technology equally has a love for quality in a finished product. A wallpaper plays an important part in achieving this ‘perfection’ in a finished product. It has the energy to stand out, draw attention and most important making your device whether it’s a laptop or a smartphone yours.
We here at notthefruit would like to share this passion for wallpapers to you guys. I have skimmed the internet for the best sources of quality wallpapers. The wallpaper are for most iDevices but you can use them for either device.

“We’re thrilled to report our best March quarter ever, with strong revenue growth in iPhone, Services and Wearables,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers chose iPhone X more than any other iPhone each week in the March quarter, just as they did following its launch in the December quarter. We also grew revenue in all of our geographic segments, with over 20% growth in Greater China and Japan.”
Every home, store, public area, … let’s say “place” has wi-fi. We all know the experience of a slow internet connection, waiting for that webpage to load. A YouTube video that will only play in 360p and if you change it you can play it for 10 seconds before it starts buffering again. And these are only examples of slow internet speeds. Most homes have dead spots (no wi-fi connection at all) and the solutions for a solid wireless connection can give other problems. (such as sticky clients, …)
Linksys promises to undead the dead spots and give you the most reliable mesh network on the market. Do they?
Finally someone who talks about AirPlay 2. It should’ve been a feature in iOS 11, but right now Apple seems to have stopped talking about it. When it’s actually coming, nobody knows. But at least Sonos can tell us that it’s coming this year! Thanks Sonos!

Apple pushed an iOS update to fix the third party display issues.
I’ve been wanting to do it for a while now. Today I finally did it. Although I did need some help. This help came from a video. I’ll drop it underneath this so you can watch it too. From this day on, I will never use FB again. The notthefruit FB page will still be available but it will not be updated. Continue Reading
The Event will take place the 27th of March and will be for students and teachers. Interesting!
Apple today announced it will host its 29th annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose from June 4 through June 8. The Keynote will be held the 4th of June.
“If you live each day as it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.”
A part of being a fan of Apple is the world around the products. Think about the keynote, the packaging, their website, the introduction videos and the ads.
Let’s talk about that part of Apple today: Apple videos. Continue Reading
Apple makes fantastic products, but everything around it makes the whole experience even more immersive. You don’t just “use” Apple products, you live with them. There is a difference between having one Apple product and using the Apple ecosystem. Continue Reading
“We’re thrilled to report the biggest quarter in Apple’s history, with broad-based growth that included the highest revenue ever from a new iPhone lineup. iPhone X surpassed our expectations and has been our top-selling iPhone every week since it shipped in November,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We’ve also achieved a significant milestone with our active installed base of devices reaching 1.3 billion in January. That’s an increase of 30 percent in just two years, which is a testament to the popularity of our products and the loyalty and satisfaction of our customers.” Apple Newsroom
Just yesterday, Apple finally gave us a date for it’s HomePod smart speaker. Releasing a lot of extra info that we didn’t get last summer when the HomePod was first introduced. Personally, I am really interested in the HomePod. I only have one smart speaker right now, a SONOS PlayBase. I only use it for music 1% of the time. And while it sounds great, I bought it for my TV, not to listen music with it. I would love a HomePod on my desk. Maybe one in my bathroom/bedroom as well. I’ll see what one can do first. This spring, iOS 11.3 will deliver exciting new ways to experience augmented reality on iPhone and iPad, new Animoji on iPhone X and the ability to view health records in the Health app.

Yesterday Apple and the Malala Fund announced that Apple would become the fund’s first Laureate partner, enabling a significant expansion of Malala’s effort to support girls’ education and advocate for equal opportunity. Which I think is AWESOME! I love it when Apple does these kinds of things. They always say we want to leave the world better than we found it. This only confirms this more. Continue Reading
I’ve had my iPhone X for while now and I haven’t been writing about it since I did my big review. For a long time I’ve wanted to write a separate post about the X’s most talked about feature, Face ID. But I really wanted to get used to it, that’s why this post is lives in 2018 not 17.
Since the iPhone 5s, Touch ID has been my best buddy. He helped me unlock my phone, make iTunes & App Store purchases and even secured my banking apps. With the iPhone 6s, Apple made Touch ID twice as fast. But since, they havent Improved the fingerprint scanner to much. Now, with the introduction of the iPhone X, we know why. Apple was probably already working on Face ID back then. Continue Reading
